Riley Matthews is a special guest character in Best Friends Whenever's episode, Cyd & Shelby's Haunted Escape, and is the main protagonist in Girl Meets World.
Information
She is the central character of Girl Meets World, and is the daughter of Cory and Topanga Matthews. At the start of the series, she is 12 years old and in seventh grade. She is the center of many lessons in her father's class. She is just finding herself. She and her best friend, Maya Hart, explore middle school together while making new friends along the way. Riley is very much like her father. She also has a crush on Lucas.[1]
Personality
She is cheerful and responsible, Riley cares very much about her family and friends. She works hard at school and always tries to do the right thing. Riley is bubbly, outgoing, optimistic, intelligent, and extremely loyal to her friends and family. Riley isn't afraid to tell people what she thinks, and will stand up for her friends. Sometimes, she encounters embarrassing moments, which are usually funny. Riley won't hesitate to stand up for her friends, and she like most siblings, she is fairly annoyed by her younger brother, Auggie, but she still loves him. A lot of Riley's personality is taken after her father, Cory. Shawn described her as "Cory, with Topanga's hair." However, even though Shawn described her as such, Riley is also very much like her mother Topanga. Riley is really smart, and rivals Farkle for the most A's received. She is also very idealistic. She believes in things, even if everyone else disagrees, this trait mainly applies to her best friend, Maya, who Riley never gives up hope on.[2][3]
In Best Friends Whenever
Riley & Lucas are encountered by Cyd & Shelby and they see each other in the haunted house. Cyd takes over Riley's body to jump back to before they teleported to New York.
Relationships
Lucas Friar
Lucas is Riley's close friend and love interest. Riley has had a crush on Lucas from when she saw him on the subway. Riley reveals that Lucas went to volunteer after the wreckage of Hurricane Katrina. Lucas asks if he told her this, to which she denies, implying that she sought this information out. Lucas tends to bite his lower lip when around Riley. Later in the season, Riley decides that no matter what, she'll always want Lucas in her life.Lucas and Riley were in a love triangle together with Maya, but Lucas chose Riley and they become a official couple. Their currently dating. [4]
Maya Hart, Farkle Minkus, Isadora Smackle and Zay Babineaux
In Girl Meets World, Maya is Riley's best friend, whilst Farkle, Smackle and Zay are her close friends.
